In this post, we’re going to look at a number of free marketing tools available to you right now, that I believe will bring you real value.
Whether you’re new in business or a seasoned veteran, we can all do with a little help from time to time
When it comes to writing, I often struggle for ideas and inspiration on what to write about next.
However, recently I’ve been using HubSpot’s free blog ideas generator, which is great for when you’re struggling for ideas.
It was responsible for suggesting the ‘Which is the best printer with the cheapest ink’, post that I wrote a few weeks ago, that has been really well received.
Additionally, if you need help with a marketing plan, there is a free tool for that too. I personally haven’t used it, but I do know of business owners who have and they found it really useful.
There are also 4 other free marketing tools to help you with your marketing efforts, many of which I have used over the years, which I will detail below.
Having a professional looking Email Signature says a lot about you and your brand.
If you are running an e-mail marketing campaign or are just using your e-mail as a primary communication tool to get in touch with your clients, having a quality email signature is a must.
If you don’t, you will not only run the risk of looking unprofessional, but you will also miss out on some potential leads and website traffic.
Did you know that the average click-through rate on an e-mail signature is around 0.4%?
However, if you are in communication with a client, this percentage can shoot up to 20% over time.
If you don’t already have an e-mail signature, HubSpot’s free e-mail signature generator can provide you with a copy and paste template that you can design to your liking and preference.
I have used it, and it’s quick, easy, free and super effective.

As I mentioned earlier, I used to struggle for blog/article ideas and I know from speaking to others that I’m not alone.
Now, if you are just starting out, that may not be the case, but if you have got hundreds of blogs on your website, you have probably experienced a roadblock that prevents you from creating new, inspiring and great content that is worthwhile.
I won’t go on about this too much as I’ve already spoke about this, so if you want to try it out, it’s free – HubSpot Free Blog Post Ideas Generator Tool
Most small businesses don’t have a business plan yet alone a marketing plan, due to the ever-changing environment and the time it takes to put one together.
Now, whilst a business plan will more than likely be out of date a few weeks after completion, one thing I have learnt is that a flexible Marketing Plan can be extremely beneficial to you and your business.
Having a marketing strategy for a 1-2 month period has helped provide us with structure and ensured regular activity, both on and offline.
The beauty of the Marketing Plan Generator from HubSpot, is that it is extremely easy to use and I would highly recommend you give it a try.

This is an exercise that I did for the first time in 2019.
If you had of asked me who my customer was I would have had an answer, however it was only once I completed this, that I truly understood “who” my customer is.
I began to realise what they like and dislike along with their goals, aspirations and their demographic.
Having this allowed me and the team to truly understand who they are, which resulted in us changing a number of our services to accommodate this.
It doesn’t take long and is a very worthwhile exercise – Make My Personal Tool
An SSL certificate is a necessity for any website as said so by Google.
If you are new to the digital space, you should know that Google’s Chrome browser amongst others, explicitly warns users against visiting pages that aren’t encrypted with a SSL certificate.
If you are an online business owner and you don’t have an SSL in place, then this could seriously harm your business, not only from a security perspective, but for the simple fact that your potential customers will be discouraged from visiting your site.
If you don’t already have a SSL certificate for your website, I would recommend you to get that sorted out right away.
One of HubSpot’s free tools is the SSL checker which you can use right now to find out if your domain is already protected.
Simply, click on the link below and enter your domain. After that, click on the button to the right that says “Check SSL” and you will get the results within seconds.

This is one I don’t use as Xero, my accountancy software takes care of this for me.
However, if you still manually produce your own invoices, then why spend money on hiring a professional to write up an invoice template? HubSpot’s Invoice Templates are more than adequate, and they look great.

Whilst this is not specifically a free marketing tool, I do feel it deserves a mention on the list as it has brought so much value to my business over the years.
Whilst I now pay for extra marketing & sales features, I did use the free CRM for a number of years and I would highly recommend that if you do not have a CRM at the moment, that you give it a go.
